Refined Linseed Oil for Wooden Spoons, Utensils or other Wooden Articles.
A polymerising (drying) oil which makes wood water-repellent, resistant to rot, dimensionally stable and which increases its bending strength. It resists fats, petroleum products, salts and household acids, e.g. lemon, wine and vinegar. It hardens quickly and completely.

Wood can be treated with Refined Linseed Oil in two different ways.

The Room Temperature Treatment (RTT) 20°C / 86°F and The High Temperature Treatment (HTT) 130°C / 266°F.
The Room Temperature Treatment will result to less penetration whereas with The High Temperature Treatment the oil will penetrate deeper into the wood.
Note: To achieve a polished surface on beech or birch you’ll have to treat the wood with Refined Linseed Oil at least twice before the surface is sufficiently sealed for polishing.

The Room Temperature Treatment (RTT)
Apply Refined Linseed Oil liberally with a brush on dry wood until the entire surface is saturated.
To avoid a sticky surface, wipe off any excess oil after a couple of hours.
Allow it to polymerise (harden) for at least 24 hours.

The High Temperature Treatment (HTT)
Heat up Refined Linseed Oil up to 130 °C / 266 °F in a deep fryer or pot and using protective gloves, apply carefully using a natural bristle brush. Please note that synthetic brushes will melt at these temperatures. Apply and spread until the entire surface is saturated. When treating wood with warm Refined Linseed Oil the moisture in the wood evaporates, bordered pits open up due to the vapour pressure in the cells, and the oil penetrates deeper into the wood. To avoid a sticky surface, wipe off any excess oil after 20-30 minutes. Allow it to polymerise (harden) for at least 24 hours. You can safely work with warm Refined Linseed Oil between 70°C to 130°C / 158 °F – 266 °F with very good results – it will neither burn nor fume. Refined Linseed Oil’s boiling point is 300 °C / 572 °F.

Wood treated with Refined Linseed Oil can be glued, polished and/or painted.
To clean your brushes, tools and utensils wash them with strong soap and water.

IMPORTANT NOTE!
Linseed oil may self ignite. Soak any paper towel or rag you worked with in water and throw it in a well sealed plastic bag.
