My box of spoon blanks from different shapes and sizes is perfect for beginners. Made keeping in mind the different challenges a beginner will meet. I use mostly avocado wood since it can be carved semi dry as well. Though often a bit too soft avocado wood takes a nice finish making spoons look really cool. I often include a few blanks from harder woods to challenge even further the carvers.
Though we all want to carve the perfect spoon we should never forget that It should all be about learning and having fun!
