The thin cylindrical handle and large, tear-drop shaped bowl are attributes of a common spoon design used in the medieval period. Artefacts of this shape can be found in medieval Novgorod (Russia), from the Mary Rose shipwreck (Portsmouth, UK) and medieval York (UK) amongst many other places! The blank will vary slightly as they’re made to order, but the same template will be used to make them.
Available in the UK by Viv Walker and the rest of the world through “The Carvers Without Borders” network.
