Hand forged holdfast made for a Φ19mm or 3/4 inch hole. In a 7 cm thick bed, you can hold down items up to 19 cm in height.
I start by cutting the bar into length. I heat it in a cox heated fireplace and forge it into a rough shape. After the grinding, I twist it into the final shape and apply a blacksmith finish. There are also some hammer dimples on the spot where it gets in contact with your workbench, preventing it from slipping.
