Slöjda I trä is an inspiring basic book that describes how to make simple, functional and fun wooden objects with a knife and axe. You will learn how to make spoons and ladles, bowls, butter knives and cake spatulas, hangers, knobs and turns, peg rails, curtain rods, cutting boards, leather sheathed knives and stools, among other things.
What tools and utensils do you need? How do you choose the right materials? Which types of wood and techniques are best suited to different objects? The book contains everything you need to know about splitting, drying, carving, sanding and breaking, painting and finishing. There is also a comprehensive glossary explaining all the technical terms.
Jögge Sundqvist is a craftsman who makes painted seating furniture, cabinets, household utensils, sculptures and blackboards according to the deep Swedish sloyd tradition that he learned from his father Wille. He carefully selects the material in the forest and works it raw with an axe and knife. Jögge is represented with public decoration in museums and at municipalities and county councils. Since 1986 he has been holding workshops, courses and lectures in both Europe and the USA. s u r o l l e is his folk art alias. Slöjda i trä was first published in 2002 and is now published in a completely revised edition.
