Jögge Sundqvist
Sweden
Jögge Sundqvist has been active nationally and internationally since 1985 as a craftsman, lecturer, inspirer and writer. He works widely with public design, exhibitions and private commissions. From utilitarian objects to sculpture, he crafts in raw wood with hand tools and produces folk-art painted stools, chairs, knives, cabinets, spoons and troughs, sculptures and word boards.
In his crafting, he explores working processes and relates to a tradition-based know-how and culture where art, quality and working methods are intertwined.
Jögge Sundqvist trained at the sloyd program at Vindeln Folk High School, but has been doing sloyd since childhood and was taught the art of using knives and axes by his father, Wille Sundqvist.
He’s active under the alter ego and company name s u r o l l e in his own workshop in Kasamark, Umeå.
