The Kolrosing Knife – Blade 1.0
$118.00 VAT included (where applicable)
Some of you might remember that I have been working on some kolrosing knife ideas.
Trying to make sense of the craft, from someone else’s perspective, I found myself searching for answers among kolrosers I admire and got me inspired from the very beginning of my kolrosing journey.
Liesl @rivchicawarrior and Nick @murphys_spoon were kind enough to answer my calls and to generously share with me their thoughts on kolrosing and some of their personal techniques. Although it was fascinating to hear them talking about their techniques I realised I had to deal with two different kolrosing schools, which wouldn’t make things easier.
Knowing that I’ll be needing some extra support to bring my ideas in life I reached out to Aleksander @ravnoposeven and ask for help to develop the kolrosing blade ideas I have been working on. Although I knew how talented Aleksander was, I had no idea what a great partner would be. I wouldn’t have gone far without him.
After trying different designs, geometries and techniques, thanks to Aleksander’s patience and determination, I’m now confident to share with you all The Kolrosing Knife.
The blades first get cut and the tangs get ground round. Then the rough edge bevel is ground and then the blades are heat treated (nomalized twice, oil quenched and tempered). Finally they are sharpened and glued into handle which is turned on the lathe from a nice piece of curly maple and colour dyed.
Choose between three different handle colours. Natural, Brown or Red. Please keep in mind that the colour of the handles may vary from the pictures.
The kolrosing knife comes with a beautiful hand made wooden sheath.
