The wait is over. After multiple iterations and a design process that took several years to refine, the very first batch of The Sloyd Axe is finally here.

A carving axe developed and designed in Sweden by Dio from The Spoon Crank, and hand forged by the StrongWay team in Ukraine.

Hand forged for durability and balance, this axe is built specifically for carving—whether you’re shaping blanks, roughing out spoons, or working green wood.

Why 750g?
At 750g, The Sloyd Axe strikes a balance between control and power. Heavy enough to remove material efficiently, yet light enough for precision carving and long sessions without fatigue. This weight gives the axe momentum for clean, confident cuts while maintaining the responsiveness needed for detailed shaping and controlled swings.

Why 52100 Steel?
52100 is a high-carbon bearing steel known for its exceptional toughness, edge retention, and fine grain structure. It takes a razor-sharp edge and holds it well, making it ideal for carving tools that need precision and durability over long sessions.

Why Ash Wood?
Ash is a traditional handle wood valued for its strength, flexibility, and shock absorption. It provides a comfortable feel in the hand while reducing vibration during carving, making it reliable for extended use.
