Rapping iron is used to hammer down the basket work either for compacting the layers or leveling the weaving.
The ring can be used to straighten larger rods.
I start by forging down the metal into the shape for the handle, then I punch the material and forge out the ring. I apply the hammer texture and it’s ready for a blacksmith finish. I grind the ”hitting” surfaces so it minimalizes the damage on the weaving.
