Story
Winter 2022, Sweden – Nils Ögren and Dio agreed to collaborate on the development of a carving axe. Nils forged the initial prototype, drawing inspiration from designs and prototypes Dio had been working on earlier that year.
Summer 2022, Sweden – During Täljfest, some of the most talented artisans kindly tested the first prototype and provided valuable feedback to Dio.
Winter 2023, Sweden – Dio visited Nils in Sunne, to work on the 2nd axe prototype. Their primary focus was finalizing the geometry of the axe head, refining the handle design, and perfecting the bevel of the cutting edge.
Spring 2023, Sweden – After testing the 2nd prototype, they decided to forge a 3r one. Nils forged the 3rd axe prototype and sent it to Dio for testing.
Spring 2023, Sweden – The Axe Odyssey Campaign was launched, giving the opportunity to carvers to test the axe.
Summer 2023, Sweden – The axe embarked on its journey from Sweden, and carvers began testing and sharing their feedback.
Summer 2023, UK – The axe continued its journey to the UK, where more carvers tested it and shared their feedback during Spoontown, Spoonfest, and the Bowl Gathering festivals.
Autumn/Winter 2023, Germany – The axe made its way to Germany during the Von Hand festival, where additional carvers tested it and provided feedback.
